Mozzarella Log Jam Appetizer Recipe

Every once in awhile my hubby and I will have a fun family night and make a bunch of appetizers and watch a movie together. It’s one of our favorite things to do. One appetizer we love are these tasty mozzarella log jam appetizers. I used to waitress in college and the restaurant I worked at made a similar recipe and it was always a favorite. They are so easy to make and I now make my own version at home. Similar to mozzarella cheese sticks but with a twist!

Log Jam Recipe

All you need to make them is string cheese, won ton wraps and an egg.

Log Jam Recipe

Cut your string cheese in half so you have two short pieces. Then wrap in the won ton wrapper and roll. Brush the edge of the wrap with egg to seal it shut and complete your wrap.

When you are done they will look like this.

Then deep fry them until golden brown. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping. It doesn’t get much easier or tastier!

I haven’t made anything with wonton wrappers since I was a kid. My aunt and I used to make Italian wontons by using mild Italian sausage. Fry up some sausage and then put it in the wrappers and then she baked them. Seeing these brings back memories. AND? What a great idea to have movie night with favorite homemade apps. I’m going to have to get my family to start doing that!

When you freeze these do you need to thaw them before frying?

I haven’t froze these, but I would thaw them first. The excess water could make for a mess with the oil as they thaw.

Can these be baked instead of deep fried? If at what temp.? And how long?

No, these need to be fried in order to properly cook the egg roll wrapper since it is raw dough. Baked will not give the same result.
