Turkey Chili has become a staple meal in our house. I have to admit that I don’t even like chili and I LOVE this recipe. My mother in law first made it for us when I was dating my hubby and I was so upset on the way over to dinner that we were having chili and I’d have to choke it down because I didn’t like chili and there was no way I was going to tell my future mother in law that! Well lucky for me this recipe is soooooooo delicious!
Start by browning your turkey along with olive oil and garlic. I find the cheapest prices on ground turkey at Sam’s Club. It’s around $2.35 a lb compared to almost double that at my grocery store.
1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
1 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 1/4 lb ground turkey
2 cans Del Monte diced tomatoes with jalapenos
1 tsp cumin
2-3 tsp chili powder
1 can corn
1 can black beans
1 can kidney beans (optional)
In a medium saucepan add olive oil, garlic and turkey. Brown on medium until no longer pink. Drain and return to pan. Add in tomatoes and spices. Simmer covered on medium for 15-20 minutes. Add corn and beans (rinse beans first) and heat through. Serve with shredded cheese and tortilla chips.
*If you like your chili to be a little spicy then trade out one can of Del Monte diced tomatoes with jalapenos for 2 cans of Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies. You will then use 1 Can Del Monte and 2 cans Rotel total.
*Kidney beans are optional. We don’t care for them so I just omit them.
This is great leftover too!
