Cat In The Hat Craft: Thing 1 and Thing 2 Puppets

These Thing 1 and Thing 2 puppets are easy and fun. They are a great craft project to do with your kids and would also make a great classroom art project for teachers to do with their class. Be sure to grab the free Dr. Seuss printables to make this a stress-free project!

• Red Paper Bag (you can use white or brown and paint it red)
• Blue, White & Red Craft Foam Sheets
• Pencil & Black Permanent Marker
• Glue
• Scissors

Free Dr Seuss Printables

You’ll need these free Dr. Seuss printables for this fun Cat in the Hat craft project! Get your free printables here and then download them and print them.

 

 

You’ll receive an email with the link to download the free printables. You’ll also get access to ALL of my free kids printables as an added bonus. Once you get the email just click the link and you’ll be taken to my free printables library where you can select the Thing 1 and Thing 2 template and download it. Print it off on regular printer paper.

 

 

Cut the template out as pictured above.

 

 

Trace the face and chest logos onto white craft foam.

 

 

Cut out and then glue the face and chest logos onto the white craft foam. Allow the glue to dry completely.

 

 

Trace the arms and legs onto a red craft foam sheet.

 

 

Cut out the arms and legs along the lines you traced.

 

 

Outline the arms, legs and hair with black permanent marker.

 

 

Trace the hair onto blue craft foam and then cut out.

 

 

Outline the blue hair with a black marker as shown above.

 

 

Glue the blue hair onto the red paper bag. Be sure to glue it on the bottom of the bag, the part that flaps over. Then, glue the face on top of the hair.

 

 

 

Glue on the arms, legs and Thing 1 and Thing 2 chest logos.

 

 

Allow the glue to dry completely and then have fun playing with your new puppet!

 

 

 

There are so many fun ways you can play with these Dr Seuss crafts Thing 1 and Thing 2 puppets! Kids can put on a puppet show or pretend play with their new puppets.

 

 

 

 

And of course, you must also read The Cat in the Hat book by Dr. Seuss and use the puppets to help tell the story! After you read the story your kids can tell the story using their puppets.

 

 

 

These Thing 1 and Thing 2 puppets would also make a really fun Dr. Seuss party activity idea! Kids can make them at the party or you can make them ahead of time and use them as party favors.
