These monster party chocolate covered pretzel rods are just as tasty as they are cute! Pair them with some monster licorice sticks and you’ve got the perfect monster party treat for your Halloween or monster party. We love a good monster party theme and these chocolate covered pretzel rods go perfectly with our monster eyeball cookies, Rice Krispie bar monster treats and cheese puff monster.

Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods

Chocolate dipped pretzel rods are the perfect treat for any occasion. In the past, we’ve even made them for a woodland baby shower to look like birch trees! The possibilities for matching any theme are endless. To make them you only need a few simple ingredients:

  • pretzel rods
  • melted chocolate or candy melts
  • sprinkles (we used this mix)

How to Make Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods

Chocolate dipped pretzel rods are really easy to make and we’ve even got a secret tip that makes them even faster and easier to make!

  1. Start by purchasing pretzel rods. I always make sure to check each bag to see that they aren’t broken.
  2. Choose a color of candy wafers for your dipped pretzel rods. We used this color.
  3. Choose sprinkles to decorate your dipped pretzels with. We used these eyeball sprinkles.

How to Make Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods With Candy Melts

Now for the secret trick to make this easier! It is super helpful to have a candy melt pot to keep your melted chocolate candy wafers at just the right temp! It is not necessary though because you can use a double boiler if you don’t have one. It just keeps the wafers at the ideal temp so dipping all of your pretzels is a breeze!

If you don’t have a double boiler then just place a glass bowl over a boiling pot of water (bowl needs to be bigger than the pot) and melt the wafers in there.

Then, simply dip your pretzel rod in the melted wafers and roll them in sprinkles. Set on a pan covered in parchment paper to cool and harden. Don’t touch them or move them until they are completely hard.

Once the pretzel rods have cooled and are hard to the touch you may remove them from the parchment paper and place them in a glass jar for serving.

We attached a big googley eye to our glass jar to further decorate!

We also used some of the leftover melted candy wafers to attach candy eyeballs to licorice and served the pretzel rods alongside it. It made for a cute pairing!
