BEST Kool Aid Playdough Recipe!
We love homemade playdough here. I’ve always loved kool aid playdough because the kool aid makes it scented and colored! Bonus! Plus the kool aid doesn’t stain hands which was something I wondered about before making it. I have been on a quest to find the best kool aid playdough recipe out there and I’ve finally got a mixture that we love! It’s soft and molds really well. It doesn’t crumble like store bought brands do. It’s the BEST!
BEST Kool Aid Playdough Recipe!
This is the BEST Kool Aid Playdough recipe. Super soft and moldable, doesn't crumble or stain hands. Keeps for a long time in an airtight container.
Ingredients
- 1 Envelope unsweetened Kool Aid
- 2 C Water
- 2 C Flour
- 2 tsp Cream of Tartar
- 1/2 C Salt
- 2 tsp Oil
Instructions
- Put 2 C water in pan.
- Add Kool Aid and stir.
- Cook on medium heat stirring constantly while adding remaining ingredients.
- Playdough is ready when it comes together in a ball and the color deepens.
- Let cool and then store in an airtight container.
- *I have successfully made double batches of this. I wouldn't go larger than a double batch since it would get difficult to stir.

I have never tried making playdough, but sounds like fun. And now we’ve got the best recipe to try , thanks! 🙂
ive always wanted to try making my own playdough! ive never heard of it with koolaid before. great idea
Of all the play dough our kids have made, and we made ourselves as kids, I never once considered adding color to it. Thanks for the tip.
I love this idea! Considering my son puts EVERYTHING in his mouth, I’ll need to try this for my daughter. I’ve packed away her other playdough because I don’t want her brother eating it. This would at least be safe for him! 🙂
This is awesome, my daughter will love this.
cant wait to make this with my granchildren
love this so pretty and love that it is made with something in the cabinet
This recipe didn’t work at all. If you add flour to water it ends up really lumpy.
Sorry to hear it didn’t work for you Christy! We have always had great success with it 🙂
