Jello Cake Instructions

Begin by baking the cake according to the directions on the box, in two 9″ circular cake pans.  Let it cool completely. Then, slice in half lengthwise to form 4 layers. I recommend using this handy cake slicer tool to cut even layers. Set aside the cakes and move on to making the frosting.

Jello Cloud Cake Frosting

Making the Jello cake frosting is easy and uses Jello to flavor and color each layer differently. You can do this while the cake is cooling. Boil 1/2 cup water, add 1 package jello and whisk until dissolved (about 1-2 minutes), remove from heat.

In a 2/3 cup measuring cup, add in 1/2 cup of ice cubes and fill with cold water. Pour ice water into jello mixture and whisk to combine.

Then, whip 1 1/2 cups of the whipped topping into the jello. Pour into a bowl and place in the fridge for one and a half hours to set. When it is ready it will have a mousse-like consistency.

Break up the mixture with a whisk until it is smooth. Fold in the remaining whipped topping.

Repeat 4 times for Rainbow Jello Cloud Cake, alternating flavors between the layers of cake.
