Texas Roadhouse Rolls Recipe

To make these copycat Texas Roadhouse rolls in a bread machine you’ll need some simple ingredients.

  • 1/4 cup warm water (temp between 80-90 degrees F)
  • 1 cup milk (temp between 80-90 degrees F)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups unbleached bread flour
  • 1 envelope dry, active yeast

Place the ingredients in your bread machine in the order listed, or if your particular bread machine tells you a different order then follow that. (I use this bread machine) It is important to use a thermometer (I use this one) to check the temperature of your water and milk and ensure they are between 80-90 degrees F. If you do not then your liquids may be too hot and kill your yeast which will cause your bread to not rise properly.

Then select the dough cycle and let your bread machine do all the work of mixing, kneading and letting it rise. I find I have a lot better success with making bread dough in the bread machine as my kitchen is simply too cold in the fall and winter and my dough inevitably doesn’t rise correctly. The bread machine takes care of that problem! If you’ve had problems with bread properly rising in the past then that may be the solution for you too!

Once the dough cycle has completed, remove the dough and roll it out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/2″ thick rectangle. Fold the dough in half and allow it to rest for 15 minutes. Then cut into 18 squares. I used a pizza cutter like this to cut mine. Then bake at 350 degrees F for 10-15 minutes until tops are golden brown. When they come out of the oven you can swipe the tops with butter to give them a shine.

I love topping my Texas Roadhouse rolls with Buzz + Bloom  Cinnamon Spreadable Honey. It is SOOOOO amazing on top of these sweet rolls! Spread on a nice layer of it while the rolls are still warm and let it melt and ooze over the edges of the rolls. It’s a flavor explosion in your mouth. The Cinnamon Spreadable Honey combined with the warm, fluffy bread is a flavor-packed combination. I promise you won’t have leftovers!

Texas Roadhouse Cinnamon Butter

I love the cinnamon honey on these Texas Roadhouse rolls but this Texas Roadhouse cinnamon butter recipe is also amazing and is like what they serve in the restaurant. To make the cinnamon butter you’ll need:

  • 1/2 cup sweet, creamy salted butter (softened)
  • 1/3 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Put butter in a small bowl and beat with a hand mixer until fluffy. Add a little confectioners sugar at a time and blend in. Add cinnamon and mix well. Place in a container in the fridge when you aren’t using the cinnamon butter. Put out to soften for serving.

  10. OMG…I am making my 2nd batch now. The first one I used for kolaches and they were amazing. Now, I am going to be using this batch for dumplings. I am excited and confident they will be a great compliment to my (already amazing) recipe for chicken and dumplings.

  11. Delicious recipe. I made the cinnamon butter recipe that you included as well. It was yummy. This has to be the easiest recipe for rolls I have ever made. The breadmaker does all the work. The dough came out perfect-easy to handle. Wish I had some to freeze, but all were eaten.

    Thank you for the recipe.

  12. These were awesome! As good as the real thing, if not better. Unfortunately for me, I ate about 15 straight away. Thank you!

  14. This post brings back memories of a worplace where we had a bread machine. Almost every day someone would make a new recipe for bread in the bread machine, and then we’d all gather in the dining room to take a break and enjoy the warm homemade bread. This does sound like a great recipe I’d like to try!

  15. Can you just make a loaf with this recipe? I’ve been looking and trying all these recipes for a loaf and non of them are soft or sweet. I need soft/sweet sandwich bread!

  16. There are AMAZING! I love making bread in my bread machine and these are next level! I’ve gotten rave reviews every time I make them! Thanks so much!!

  17. I’m pretty new with my bread machine but I made these once back in november and my family gobbled them up. So fast! Since then my family continues to beg me for them often. Since the first batch I’ve made them for Thanksgiving for my husband’s work party, my families thanksgiving, and at least two other times. I’m going to make them again now! We just love this and haven’t bought any store rolls since I found this recipe! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!

    1. Oh you made my night with this feedback! Thank you so much for sharing. I’m so glad they are a family favorite!!

  18. I’ve never been to a Texas Roadhouse but a friend was telling me how amazing their bread is and that i should try to find the recipe and make it. so i started researching and stumbled across this recipe. i made it yesterday and between me and my husband, we’ve eaten nearly the entire batch – IT’S SO GOOD. The bread itself is decent, but it’s the cinnamon butter when applied to the bread that makes it out of this world. i don’t know how this compares to Texas Roadhouse but i do know that this recipe is dangerously good! i added honey to the cinnamon butter, but other than that, i kept everything the same 🙂

  19. This recipe turned out amazing my family is hooked. Do you know if I add a little more sugar what
that would do, if it would sweeten them a little.

    1. I’m so glad your family loves them! I’m always very cautious with bread recipes because they are fussy. I would add sugar to the cinnamon butter if you’d like to sweeten them more. If you do try to add it to the bread let us know how it turns out!

  20. What an incredible recipe! I definitely like to “wow” people with this one! It’s spot on and so delicious! Must try!

    1. I have only made these using my bread machine but you could certainly try doing the kneading and rising yourself. Let us know if you have any tips after you try it!

  21. I made these tonight and I love love them and my family did as well. I didn’t make the butter I actually bought cinnamon and brown sugar butter from a store nearby (just being lazy) and it was great. I will be making these for Christmas and New Years Eve. Would love to post a pic but I am not seeing where I can do that.

  22. These were so easy to make and absolutely delicious. I didn’t have any eggs, but they still turned out great without them. I brushed the top with regular Kerry Gold butter, but next time I make them I’ll definitely use some cinnamon butter. I think this is my new go-to dinner roll recipe!

  23. I followed this recipe to a T but for some reason I have found that every time I use my bread maker, the bread turns out very very dense. I am not too sure why, but if the rolls didn’t turn out so dense they would have been amazing!

    1. The rolls cannot be baked in the bread machine as the machine isn’t big enough. They need to be spread out on a pan.

  24. Thank you for making this a bread machine recipe. I love to make doughs in my machine. Knowing my family I doubled the cinnamon butter and added honey as I saw that in other recipes. They are fantastic! My husband took 1 bite and said “You are making these again!!”. I will have to check out your other recipes etc. Thank you for sharing!!

    1. Thank you for the awesome feedback! I’m so glad you enjoyed them and I’m thrilled that your family did as well! 🙂

  25. Just made these today for our belated Thanksgiving dinner. AMAZING! Truly. Better than the Texas Roadhouse rolls.. Thanks so much for this wonderful recipe.

  26. This was my 1st time making these rolls. They turned out delicious. My question is approx. what size should the rectangle be before I fold it in half? I wasn’t sure what size to cut each roll so I ended up with different sizes. I will definitely be making these again because the bread machine does all the work! Thank you for sharing this recipe!

    1. I’m so glad you enjoyed them! It should be a 1/2″ thick rectangle and then fold in half. I judge by the thickness and make sure it is a rectangle shape. Then cut evenly into 18 squares so usually 3 by 6 works out well. Hope that helps!

  27. These look great! I’m just confused because you said that you prefer them with honey but that if you don’t have honey you can do them the Texas roadhouse way with cinnamon butter … But TR rolls are with honey!!

    1. Our Texas Roadhouse serves the rolls with a whipped cinnamon honey butter. I like them with that or with honey. Both are good!!

  28. I have made this recipe dozens of times since I found it. They always turn out great. I get asked to make them for family gatherings, potlucks and dinners. My son just texted me to ask if we could have some tonight, and the bread machine is working.
Thank you for a clear, easy to follow recipe which has become a favorite.

    1. This made my night! I’m so glad you enjoy the recipe and thank you for taking the time to leave feedback for others!!

    1. I haven’t tried this but you could make the dough and freeze in balls. Then you’d need to pull them out and allow to rise before baking.

  29. I love these rolls at Texas Roadhouse so I thought, why not give it a try? I appreciate the instructions on how to make the dough in my bread maker. It worked like a charm and tasted wonderful! I followed the recipe exactly. I can’t figure out how to leave a photo but they looked as good as they tasted!

  30. QUESTION Why do we only bring liquids to 80-90 degrees when the yeast you use says it should be 100-110 degrees?

  31. These are the absolute BEST recipe I’ve used to date! Foolproof, especially for a beginner bread baker. My family BEGS for these on a regular basis. It’s so easy and inexpensive. Taste exactly like the restaurant rolls everybody loves. Absolutely amazing! Thank you for sharing the recipe! ♥️

  32. These were absolutely delicious! The only thing I did differently was I shaped them, then let them rest and rise for half hour before I baked them. But they were phenomenal. I probably would cook them for a minute or two less only because my oven temp tends to run higher. And I think I like them a little lighter colored. Perfect texture and they rose beautifully.
