The great thing about M&M’s is that they make different colors for different holidays! I have made Easter M&M cookie bars as well using pastel M&M’s. You can use any color for any holiday! This no-bake icebox cheesecake is another favorite 4th of July dessert here. I love celebrating with red, white and blue desserts!

These M&M cookie bars are like a cookie and a bar combined. You get the best of both worlds in one delicious bar! The end pieces are my favorite, specifically the corners! Then you get the yummy, chewy crust in maximum portions.

This easy 4th of July dessert makes a 9×13 pan of bars so you’ll have enough to feed a crowd (or a small family multiple times). Trust me when I say they won’t last long!

Another fun way to change up the flavors is to use different flavors of M&M’s candies. You can use plain, peanut butter, peanut, etc. Any variety will work! We used peanut butter M&M’s in our bars this time. Last time we did plain M&M’s. They are all good!

How To Make M&M Cookie Bars

You can make M&M cookie bars by mixing together basic baking ingredients and baking them in a pan. Using a hand mixer, stand mixer or spatula mix together the wet ingredients first and then the dry ingredients. Last, add the M&M candies by using a spatula to stir them in. Reserve some of the candies to sprinkle on top of the batter once it is spread in the pan.

You will need to spread the prepared batter in a 9×13″ pan. I generally like to use a metal baking pan however we were at our cabin when I made these and I only had a glass baking dish. Either metal or glass will work for baking cookie bars. If you use a glass pan reduce the heat by 25 degrees F.

After spreading the batter in the pan, sprinkle to top of it with the remaining M&M’s.

Bake the cookie bars until the center sets. Don’t overbake them or they will be dry and hard. You are going for soft and chewy!
