This year I really wanted to mix things up a bit and find some new recipes to try for our 4th of July get together. I was thrilled to find out that Giant Food Stores have done the planning for us and compiled a great Giant Recipe Center right on their site! They took all the work out of planning and laid it out for me. I browsed through the amazing recipe collection and found this Philly Cheesesteak Burger recipe! It has all the makings of an amazing meal, sirloin, melty provolone cheese and crusty buns, what more could I ask for?
To make this amazing Philly Cheesesteak Burger you’ll only need 30 minutes and a few simple ingredients that you can easily find at Giant Food Stores. Grab these ingredients:
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 2 cups thinly sliced onion
- 1/2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1/2 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 lb sirloin steak, frozen for about an hour for easy cutting
- 1/4 tsp salt
- ground black pepper
- 2 slices provolone cheese, cut into 8 pieces
- 8 butter dinner rolls or slider rolls
First you’ll need to heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté the onions until softened and starting to brown, about 6 min. Next add peppers and mushrooms and cook until vegetable mixture is tender, about another 6-8 min. more. Transfer the mixture to a bowl.
Meanwhile, slice your steak very thinly and season with salt (in moderation) and pepper. Heat the remaining oil in a skillet and cook steak slices until browned and cooked through, about 4–5 min.
Finish by topping each dinner roll with a piece of cheese.
Then and some of the vegetable mixture and meat. Serve while warm and melty!
