How To Make The Easiest Ever DIY No Sew Fabric Flip Flops!
Our snow has finally melted and despite predictions of snow to come this week, I am looking forward to Summer! That means it is time to make sure I have plenty of adorable flip flops on hand since I practically live in them all Summer. Now is the time to make them so once those sunny rays start shining down I can sit and enjoy the sun instead of being inside working on projects! These are seriously the easiest ever DIY no sew fabric flip flops. You can easily make several pair in 30 minutes or less! I whipped up two pairs in 20 minutes. They are super easy, super adorable and super cheap to make! That means you can have them in every color! I’ve laid out easy to follow, step by step instructions for making them and after you make your first pair you’ll fly through making subsequent pairs in no time.
First you’ll need some cheapo flip flops. I got the $1 pairs at Walmart but I like the $1 Old Navy flip flops best. You’ll also need scissors, 1/4 yard of fabric (or fabric scraps measuring 4 1/2 X 24 inches – 4 pieces), and hot glue (optional).
Start by turning over the flip flop and cutting off the knobs on the bottom so the rubber strap is completely removed.
Now they will look like this. Cut your fabric into four strips measuring 4 1/2″ wide by 24″ long. They don’t need to measure perfectly. If you have scraps that are slightly more narrow or a little shorter they will work. Don’t go too much shorter than 24″ though or you won’t have much fabric to work with when tying your knots. There is no need to finish the edges of your fabric by sewing the edges under. I love the fraying look! It’s completely on trend.
Then cut the ends of each strip into a point so they are easier to thread through the holes.
Now take two of your fabric strips and hold them together. Push the ends through the hole near where your toes go. Pull them through about an inch and a half so you have just enough fabric to tie a double knot.
Now tie a double knot in the fabric and pull it very tight. The knot will fit into the divot that the previous knob (that you cut off) was in. Don’t worry if it seems a little big, as you walk on it it will depress into the divot.
Once you have tied your double knot trim the tails off near your knot.
Now turn your flip flop over. Taking both strips in your hand tie a single knot about an inch or so up from the bottom of the sandal. This is the piece that will go between your toes. Tie it tightly.
Now tie a second knot in the same way, directly above your first knot. Pull it tight.
Now you are ready to create the strap. Pull each strip though the remaining two holes (1 strip in each hole).
Now you need to try on the sandal. Try it on and adjust it to fit snug. Remember that the fabric will stretch a little as you walk in them so make sure you adjust it to a snug fit. Once you have it where you want it tie a single knot in each strip.
Pull your knots tight and then trim off the ends. The knots will fit into the divots. I was worried that they would be uncomfortable to walk on if the knots didn’t fit all the way into the divots but they are not uncomfortable at all and I don’t even fell them underneath the sandal.
Now you’re done! If you don’t trust your knots you can take a little hot glue and secure them on the underside of the sandal so they don’t come untied but it’s totally optional. See I told you it was easy! Now make a few more pair to match your outfits! It’s addicting because they are so cheap and easy to make, but they look like boutique sandals!
Now I just need to shave my legs and I’ll be ready for Summer! Considering it’s only 30 degrees out today I guess I won’t be donning my shorts yet but I’m totally ready! I even found a new razor and shave gel I love. The new VenusSwirl is the best razor! It has a super cool FlexiBall™ that offers a totally unique movement like no other male or female razor on the market. Venus Swirl™ is the first and only razor with the FlexiBall™, moving in multiple directions to navigate all of the tricky areas of a woman’s body. It helps to shave those hard-to-reach places and capture hairs that other razors might miss. That means that those pesky knee and ankle hairs are easy to get the first time around! I love the way the head of the razor glides over my legs when attached to the ball. It easily adjusts for curves and does a great job leaving behind silky smooth legs! The Venus™ with a touch of Olay® VioletSwirl™ shave gel leaves my legs feeling super moisturized and smooth. Love these! Grab them at Walmart and get ready for Summer!
These are my favorite of the many pairs I’ve made so far. Check out my left toes. They are swollen and I’ve got a nice purple toe thanks to running into my fire safe in the dark. Ouch! I think the pretty pink polish and adorable sandals deflect the attention away from that pretty purple toe though!

I’ve got to admit it feels great to have freshly shaved, smooth legs and having these ridiculously inexpensive flip flops to go with my freshly shaved legs just takes the cake! Who else is ready for Summer? Tell me what you think of the Venus Swirl and these fun DIY flip flops!
*This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks/Gillette Venus.
Super cute idea, not sure my back would enjoy the knots on the bottom of the shoe. I normally can’t wear thin flip flips. Bit idea is cute and fun. Love the razors, its what I use 🙂
I definitely thought the knots would be bothersome but you really can’t feel them. I had my sister try them as well and she said she was surprised you couldn’t feel them at all. Once you’ve stood on them the knots push up into the recessed circle from where the rubber strap used to be. However if you can’t wear these type of flip flops normally then I’m sure you need a sandal with more support!
I think the flip flops look cute and I like that this razor has 5x more moisturizers.
I think you choose a good, solid pattern for the flipflops, and that the razor looks like a quality product!
I think this idea for flip flops is awesome! I could see myself going overboard doing this, for myself or for gifts. 🙂 The razor sounds great also, I have never used Venus.
the sandals are cute and the shaving gel looks like it will work on my skin
the razor looks great to prevent cuts and scrapes; i love the diy flip flops!
I think the flip flops are adorable, and the razor really looks cool and would help me get to those hard to shave places!
These flip flops are so feminine and cute! I also love the razor because it glides nicely over my bony knees.
I like that the razor is nice and sharp yet gentle. The DIY flip flops are nice but I don’t know how you don’t feel those knots on the bottom of them with the material when standing.
I was surprised that I couldn’t feel the knots either but I also had my sister try them and she didn’t feel them either. Once you stand on them the knots get pushed up into the little recession created from where the rubber strap used to be. These weren’t “stood on” yet when I photographed them lol.
I love the flip flops. Can’t wait to try this new razor.
i love the flip flops
I adore the flip flops! <3

The DIY Flip Flops look so simple and clever. You could really personalize these with your favorite fabrics. I like that this Venus shaver has a rollerball. I could use this for my legs now that spring is here!
I like the flip flops! I’ve made some before where you cut strips and then knot each one along the straps. Also, the razor sounds like it would work nice on curves with the flexiball.

Cute flip flops – and I’d like to try the razor to see how that Flexi-ball works.
I think the flip flops are cute and that the new razor seems awesome.
I like that the razor has six blades and is so flexible. The flip flops are totally cute and I imagine that they’d be pretty comfortable since you’re customizing the fabric straps to your foot.
The pivot feature on the razor looks so cool! I’ve never tried a razor like that before. Those shoes are really cute!
I love them both! The flips look easy and cute!! The razor looks like it could easily go over my bony legs!!
the flip flops are cute but I am afraid I will feel the knot underneath when walking
I was worried about that too but you really don’t feel it! The knots push up into the recessed sandal from where the rubber strap was previously.
I Love The DIY Flip Flops, Super Cute And Creative! The Venus Swirl Razor Looks Awesome!
I love the flip flops. They are super cute. I usually like men’s razors for myself, but I am always willing to try our new razors for women to see how they will work for me. I like the idea of the micro comb.
Hmmm…I certainly didn’t mean to give one star. I must have accidentally clicked it. Sorry!!
No problem Rebecca!
Great idea, will have to try this!
The flip flops are cute and I have to try the razor.
SUper cute flip flops. You can never have too many. The razor would be great for summer time.

I think the flip-flops look great and I’m excited about the new razor.
These are so cute! I love love them and thanks for the tutorial!
Oh, and the razor looks great. After this long winter, I need a good razor to get in top leg-displaying condition!
I think my daughter and her friends would have a lot of fun making these flip flops! And the razor sounds unique. I hope it does what it says it does!
They are so cute and great idea!
I think the knots under the flips would be uncomfortable but I don’t the razor would leave any bumps.
I thought the same thing Deb! I was surprised to find that I couldn’t feel the knots at all because they get pushed up into the divots that are there for the rubber straps that are cut off the sandals. I also had my sister try them and see if she could feel them and she was also surprised that you couldn’t feel the knots!
Those sandals are cute! I love the black and blue! Love the swivel feature in the razor which will minimize the chance of cuts and bumps!
i think the shoes are such a cute idea and look so easy to make. the razor looks awesome, i love that it pivots.
The flip flops are real cute, they look better than the ones I see in the stores and for the Gillette Venus razor I like that it has water-activated MoistureGlide serum for incredible glide and it moves in multiple directions.I would love to try out the new razor!
These are so cute. But I wonder how it would be to walk in them. The flexiball will make it easier to shave the toes so they don’t look like hobbit feel showing off my flip flops.
Pretty toes!
great ideas, you can try with different type of rubbers, such as rubberized cork sheets, silicone and even natural rubber
