Optional toppings: slivered almondscrushed nuts, mini M&M candies
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Cover a cookie sheet with foil or a Silpat baking mat.
Place a single layer of Saltine crackers on the prepared cookie sheet. I place them salt side up but it doesn't really matter.
Bring butter, sugar, and vanilla to a rolling boil for 3 minutes.
Pour evenly over the layer of saltine crackers and gently spread it evenly over the crackers.
Bake for 6 minutes or until bubbly.
While toffee is still hot, pour chocolate chips over the top. They will begin to melt. Start spreading them until an even layer is formed. *They look like they won't melt but they do!
Top with an optional toppings.
Freeze for one hour.
Break apart into small pieces.
Store in an airtight container on the counter or in the fridge.
