They milk the cows three times a day and each cow puts out an average of 10 gallons of milk. That means the farm puts out about 4,000 gallons of milk per DAY! Isn’t that a crazy amount of milk? All of their milk goes to Land O Lakes to make cheese! The milking process is done in the “parlor” and it was really interesting to see it in action. It was funny because as Barb was explaining the process it really occurred to me that it isn’t much different from me pumping my milk for Aiden! They use a pumping machine to pump the milk and it goes into a cooled storage tank. The milk is cooled down very quickly to ensure the best quality. Each cow’s udders are covered with iodine to keep them clean too.
