Welcome to Toddler Tuesday! This is where you can find fun toddler related activities, ideas, memories and more. I hope to bring you some fun projects that you can do with your own kids! You can grab the Toddler Tuesday button on my sidebar!
We decided to have a purple day! Danika dressed up in her favorite purple clothes which included a purple tee and a purple tutu with a fairy headband. Having a specific color picked for the day is a great way to teach your toddlers their colors and reinforce it. Danika was able to pick out all of her clothes and I was proud to see she picked all purple items!
Here is what you will need to make Kool Aid Scented Play Dough:
– 1 1/4 Cup Flour
– 1/4 Cup Salt
– 1 Package Unsweetened Kool Aid (we used Grape but you can use any flavor you want!)
– 1 Tablespoon Cream of Tartar
– 1 Cup boiling water
– 1 1/2 Tablespoon oil
- Mix the first 4 ingredients in a large bowl.
- Add boiling water and oil.
- Stir with a fork until cool enough to handle with your hands.
- Mix with your hands until thoroughly combined.
- Cool on wax paper and store in an airtight container or zip lock bag.
*If needed add 1 tsp flour at a time to achieve the desired consistency.
One great tip for playing with play dough is to buy a laminated placemat like this one and let your kids play with the dough on it. It keeps their space to a manageable level and makes clean up easy.
To continue our purple day we made Purple Cow Milkshakes! I had never had one before today and it was delicious. All you need is Welch’s 100% grape juice and Vanilla Ice Cream.
Blend together 8 scoops of vanilla ice cream and 3/4 cups Welch’s grape juice (to taste). Enjoy! Super easy and the kids loved them!
Having a color themed day is a ton of fun and a great way to get creative with your kids. We were inspired to have a paint it purple day by Welch’s Grape Juice. We love drinking grape juice so it was really fun to find other ways we could use it too. I learned a lot of things about grape juice in the process of coming up with my day that I never knew before. One thing I found particularly interesting and helpful for my own family was:
Research also suggests that drinking Concord grape juice may benefit the heart by helping to maintain healthy, clear, and flexible arteries to promote healthy blood flow. The Grape Science Center is a valuable resource to learn about the growing Concord grape research in areas like heart health, cognitive health, immune system health and more. For more information on the science behind the Concord grape’s health benefits, visit the Grape Science Center at grapescience.com.
My husband’s family has a long history of heart problems and he already suffers from high blood pressure and he is only in his late 20’s! One really valuable tool from Welch’s for his whole family is the Welch’s Family Vine Tool, which enables families to trace their personal health histories and share the results among relatives. For more visit, www.welchsfamilyvinetool.com. This is something every family should do as it is so important to know your family’s history!
You can get some fun ideas for your own Paint it Purple day on Welch’s website! In addition to promoting heart healthfulness, Welch’s has prepared recipes and other tips for creating tasty meals and snacks with vibrantly colored fruit. Find these and more at the Welch’s Recipe Box or via www.welchs.com/products/recipe-box. They have some really yummy sounding recipes that I plan on trying!
