As a family we decided to participate in the Make the switch campaign with Jennie-O and Champions For Kids. As part of this challenge we were asked to give up something unhealthy and use the money we saved to donate to kids in need. We decided to give up white bread and bakery goodies and donate healthy foods to kids in need through our local food shelf. My family was excited to take on the challenge and I love using these opportunities to teach my kids important life lessons like giving and healthy eating.
We decided to go to the store after we dropped Danika off at preschool. The kids were excited to get going!
One thing that my family has already started doing is to swap ground beef for leaner ground turkey. We love eating turkey and it’s a healthier option without sacrificing your favorite meals! Walmart had an awesome selection of Jennie-O products to choose from. You can easily swap out chicken tenderloins for turkey tenderloins. They even have turkey burgers!
My kids gladly accept turkey franks in place of regular hot dogs too! We got a huge package for our upcoming BBQ and to donate to the food shelf.
We found these yummy fruit crisps and decided to try those in place of bakery treats. Aiden spotted these near the raisins!
