Dog treats are So easy to make yourself and you give your dog the added benefits of knowing what ingredients went in to making their dog treats. I hear of so many scary recalls on dog treats or dog food that it’s nice to know exactly what went into my dog’s favorite treat. I’m sharing my favorite homemade dog treat recipes with you so you can make your own too!
We went to see the A Dog’s Purpose movie in theaters. We took our kids with us and we just loved it! After a bit of controversy regarding animal welfare during filming I did my own research and found those stories circulating around social media to be absolutely FALSE. Don’t boycott this movie based on that as the claims have since been proven false. This heartwarming movie was a big favorite of ours and I am so pleased to now own the DVD and Blu-Ray which came out today, May 2, 2017! You can get it on Amazon or in stores!
Based on the beloved bestselling novel by W. Bruce Cameron, A Dog’s Purpose, from director Lasse Hallström (The Cider House Rules, Dear John, The 100-Foot Journey), shares the soulful and surprising story of one devoted dog (voiced by Josh Gad – Frozen, Angry Birds) who finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he teaches to laugh and love. A narrative with “genuine heart, humor and a real message of love” (Michael Heaton, The Plain Dealer), the family film told from the dog’s perspective also stars Britt Robertson (Tomorrowland, The Longest Ride), KJ Apa (“Riverdale”), John Ortiz (Silver Linings Playbook, American Gangster), Juliet Rylance (Sinister, “The Knick”), Luke Kirby (“The Astronaut Wives Club”), Peggy Lipton (When in Rome, Twin Peaks), Pooch Hall (“The Game,” “Ray Donovan”) and Dennis Quaid (Far From Heaven, The Rookie).
Now let’s move on to rewarding our own pups with these special homemade dog treats recipes! This is one of my favorite easy homemade dog treat recipes! To make these homemade chicken dog treats you’ll need to combine oat flour, brown rice flour, ground chicken (cooked), oat bran, ground sage and egg together. Then slowly add chicken broth to the mixture until a dough forms. Then roll out the dough to 1/4″ thickness on a floured surface. Use a dog bone cookie cutter (I used this one) and then place the cookies on a cookie sheet lined with a silpat or parchment paper. Bake for 22-27 minutes or until golden brown. Let them cool completely and store in an airtight container in the fridge.
