The Summer Infant BabyTouch Digital Video Monitor is one of those baby products that you don’t realize how much you need it until you’ve tried it out. Before I had kids I would laugh when I saw video monitors and say “What the heck would you need one of those for?”. Well, I’m a convert and ever since I received a video monitor to test out I can’t imagine not having one. They offer you the ability to peak in on your baby without the risk of waking them up. As they grow older they give you the convenience of monitoring your kids and making sure they aren’t getting in trouble without having to go in the room. This is especially useful at naptime when you want to see if they are really resting or are up to no good!
The BabyTouch Color Video Monitor is the most innovative baby video monitor on the market. It features a revolutionary touch-screen controlled monitor, the first of its kind. Like many of the smart phones, simply touch the screen to control the monitor’s pan, scan, zoom and brightness features. Two other great aspects include a stylish, magnetic docking station for the handheld unit and a wireless, rechargeable battery-powered dock for the camera. Another wonderful feature is the unique talk-back option, giving parents the ability to speak into the handheld monitor and have their voice projected through the camera.
When they say it is similar to a smartphone they aren’t lying. Here is my iPhone next to the BabyTouch Receiver. They are similar in size and even look alike. I am in love with the BabyTouch. The features are great and I can’t get enough of them. The ability to control the camera with the receiver and pan the room and zoom in is great. Danika and Aiden are sharing a room right now and this camera allows me to see them both by panning the room and seeing what they are up to.
I love the ability to talk through the receiver and have it project into the room through the camera. It allows me to talk to Danika when she needs something. For example there are many mornings when she wakes up way too early and I can tell her it is still too early and she will go back to sleep. Rather than come out of her room, wake up her brother and be wide awake, she can just fall back asleep. It’s great for so many different situations.
The touchscreen is easy to operate and use. The features are great and the size of the receiver makes it easy to carry with you throughout the house. My only fear is that much like a smartphone if I drop it the screen will crack and be useless. I’ve dropped other monitors in the past and I fear that this one couldn’t withstand being dropped. That said it is no different than being careful with my iPhone 🙂
Why we love it: The BabyTouch Digital Video Monitor is packed with great features that are easy to use and make this a definite must have product. I love the large video screen on the monitor, ease of use, ability to pan and zoom the camera, talk back feature and so much more!
Suggestions for improvement: I’d love to be able to buy a case for the receiver that would protect it from breaking if I should drop it. For example, if I am outside and playing with the kids I’d love to have it in a case while still being able to use it.
Buy It! You can buy the BabyTouch Digital Video Monitor at Wal Mart, Target, Babies R Us and more!
