With both of my children I nursed them until they were about a year old. One thing that became a staple and “must have” product was a good nursing pillow. It seems that there are more options and new designs coming out to make your nursing experience easier and more enjoyable. The Gia Angled Breastfeeding Pillow by Simplisse is a new pillow on the market designed to help both you and baby have a better experience while nursing.
The Gia pillow has a different shaped design than other pillows I’ve tried. It is not a uniform shape on each side but rather is a “C” shape with one side being thicker than the other. The wider angled design allows baby to nurse while being more upright and not laying down flat. This helps aid digestion and can reduce acid reflux. We went through a lot of trial and error with Aiden and his acid reflux and this pillow would have been great to use with him.
I like that you can use the thinner side for nursing an older baby or using the football hold with an infant. The thicker side is perfect for giving support to an infant and the wider, flatter pillow surface helps prevent baby from rolling away from you.
You can use the pillow alone or get one of the many adorable pillow covers like the blue elephant one pictured above. I love having a few on hand to change when the others are in the wash. The embroidered elephants are just adorable!
The pillow can also be used to prop baby up on the floor or have tummy time. With the unique shape of the Gia Breastfeeding pillow it really grows with your baby and the options are endless!
Why we love it: I love the unique shape which grows with your baby and allows you to comfortably use different feeding positions. It is an ingenious design! I love the options it allows you.
Suggestions for improvement: My only suggestion is that the pillow cover was difficult to get on due to the shape of the pillow. This could be solved with a different design of the pillow cover which would make stuffing the pillow in the case easier.
Buy It! You can buy the Gia Breastfeeding Pillow at Babies R Us, Buy Buy Baby and several online retailers like Amazon and Target!
