A Surprisingly Delicious Heart Healthy Food!

My husband David’s family health history isn’t exactly stellar. His Dad’s side of the family has been plagued with a long history of heart trouble. My husband has high blood pressure which also runs in the family and has landed him on blood pressure medication at a young age. I’m thankful that he knows his family history and that we caught, and treated, his high blood pressure early on before it could do much damage.

In researching heart healthy foods in an effort to be proactive about my husband’s health history I was surprised to find that grape juice is a heart healthy food with a lot of great benefits to your heart.
Each 4-ounce glass counts as 1 serving (1/2 cup) of fruit – with no added sugar.  And, more than a decade’s worth of research suggests that thanks to the Concord grape, Welch’s 100% Grape Juice can help support a healthy heart.

There is a gap between knowing the heart-health benefits of common foods and actually putting them into the shopping cart. 2/3 of Americans recognize that red wine, salmon, oatmeal or olive oil are heart-healthy foods.  However, a fraction of these same consumers buy these foods on a monthly basis.

You may have read my post on preventing the stomach flu with grape juice and if not I suggest you read up on it 🙂 Turns out there are more than just a few great benefits to drinking grape juice!

You can head over to Welch’s to take the heart health assessment and see where you stand as well as print off Welch’s coupons!

What’s your heart health history? Does your family carry a history of heart problems as my husband’s does? Are you proactive about taking care of your heart and if so what steps do you take to ensure your heart is healthy?

  1. Thanks for sharing this. I clicked over to your post about grape juice to prevent stomach flu. I had no idea that it changes the ph balance and this is what works. Interesting.
