Looking for something fun to do in MN? Do the waddle to the Minnesota Zoo!

If you are looking for something fun to do this week then head over to the Minnesota Zoo and check out their all new Penguins of the African Coast exhibit!

Your kids can do the waddle with the penguins and learn at the same time. Visiting the zoo is such a great learning opportunity for your kids and a great Summertime activity.

Things your kids can learn while visiting the Penguins at the zoo!

Q: Where in Africa do these penguins live?

A: African penguins nest on the Southwest coast of Africa
from Hollingsbird Island in Namibia, south to Algoa Bay in South Africa. Non-breeding birds can be found across Africa’s southern shore, from Gabon to Mozambique, generally within 40 kilometers of the ocean shore. African penguins live along Africa’s southern shoreline in and around the cold, nutrient rich Benguela current. The Minnesota Zoo’s 3M Penguins of the African Coast exhibit is modeled after the Boulders Beach nesting area in South Africa.

Q: What do African penguins eat?
A: African penguins feed primarily on pelagic fish such as anchovies, sardines, horse mackerel and small fish. They are also known to eat crustaceans on occasion.

Q: How long do African penguins live?
A: The average lifespan of an African penguin in the wild is between 10-15 years. Birds in captivity can live up to 20 years old; sometimes longer.

Head over to the Minnesota Zoo to check out the penguins and learn even more about them! Have you visited a zoo near you yet this Summer??
