Lodging In Minnesota: Ruttger’s Bay Lake Lodge {Our Resort Stay Part 1}

My hubby and Carson

I haven’t shared about my Mother’s Day weekend with you yet and I’m so excited to give you all the juicy details now! My husband and I had a trip down to Woodbury planned for Wednesday night until Friday and we planned on leaving Danika and Aiden with family and just taking my little nursling, Carson with us. We were beyond excited to get away for a little couple time and the part we were most looking forward to was our upcoming stay at Ruttger’s Resort on Bay Lake in Deerwood, Minnesota. We were going to be staying from Friday night through Mother’s Day and we couldn’t wait for a little rest and relaxation together. It was a much needed escape!

Our weekend at Ruttger’s Resort was beyond amazing. From the moment we arrived I knew it was going to be an amazing stay. They handed me the keys to our golf course condo along with an activities schedule and informed me of where to go for our dinner reservation. From the lodging to the food to the activities, there is so much to talk about that I’m going to split it up into 3 different posts so you don’t miss out on any of it!

Our living room in the Golf Course Condo

When we arrived we were exhausted and hungry so we instantly crashed and changed to go to dinner. As you can see we dumped all of our bags and made ourselves right at home! This is the living room of our one bedroom golf course condo that we stayed in. Ruttger’s offers a variety of lodging options from the main lodge to the cottages on the lake and even Bay Lake villas which are gorgeous. They have something to fit your needs no matter what you might be looking for.

Our living room was equipped with a working fire place, flat screen T.V., pull out soft and it opened out to a screen porch. Cable T.V. was available as was wireless Internet. It was cozy and wonderful. We set up Carson’s travel light crib in the living room and that is where he slept. Since there are shades on all of the windows and doors it was perfect and the rising sun didn’t wake him up. It was the first time we’ve slept in until 9:30 am in years! It was fantastic!!

Full kitchen in the golf course condo
Our condo also came with a full kitchen and had we stayed the whole week (like we plan to some day in the future) we would have brought groceries for lunch and snacks. It has everything you need to make your own meals and they even stock it with necessities like cooking pans, strainers, dish soap, aluminum foil and more. It was clean and is a great feature to have for extended stays. We liked that we could keep our beverages cold and prepare a midnight snack too.
Bedroom in the golf course condo
Our golf course condo had one bedroom with a king size bed in it. It had a closet and a bathroom as well. It even had air conditioning!
Soap
Ruttger’s Resort is also eco-friendly and I got a kick out of their “holy soap”. I thought it was so cool so I had to take a picture of it. The center is gone because you typically don’t use a whole bar of soap at a hotel so this way there is less waste. Isn’t that neat? I thought so 🙂
One of many little nooks I love at the Resort! Sit and play checkers!

One thing I loved about Ruttger’s is that in the main lodge there are all these little nooks and crannies to settle down into. You can sit here and play checkers or have a seat on their giant rocking horse nearby while watching T.V. This is such a family friendly place and we would definitely go back with our whole family.

Yet another little area to sit and relax with your family.

This is Bay Lake which the resort sits on. It’s a gorgeous lake and they have a wonderful piece of property.

One thing I couldn’t get over was the view! It is an amazing view and it’s just breathtaking. It’s gorgeous and serene.

Another lodging option are these cute little cottages. Wake up to look out over the lake each morning! My friend Emilie stayed in one of these cottages and you can read about her stay on her site Baby Loving Mama! I was so excited to finally get to meet her!

The views here are gorgeous and the grounds are well maintained. We went on several walks along the property and just took in all of the beauty!

I have so much more to tell you about Ruttger’s Bay Lake Lodge! We did so many fun things and ate some amazing food while we were there so stay tuned for all of those details coming up!!

If you are looking for an awesome Minnesota getaway then I highly recommend Ruttger’s Resort. Whether you are a family with young kids or a retired golfer, they have something to offer you! We saw all types of people staying and playing at Ruttger’s while we were there. We can’t wait to go back!

*I received a two night stay at Ruttger’s on their MOM package to facilitate my review. I was not compensated for this post nor was I compensated for travel expenses. My opinions are my own.

  1. It's great that it's such a family friendly place. I've found in New England, a lot of places with such charm (like the "little nooks and crannies") frown upon having guests with children.
