Places To Stay in Minnesota! Our Embassy Suites Stay at Embassy Suites Bloomington, MN!

We love to take trips as a family. I can vividly remember my husband David telling me five years ago that one reason he wasn’t ready to have a family yet was because he still wanted to do things. After much discussion and me convincing him that kids are totally portable we started trying to have a family. He now realizes that traveling with your kids can be fun! Our kids travel really well and enjoy being away from home. We are lucky to have kids that are totally up for adventure! We decided to take a family trip to the Minnesota Zoo and we stayed at the Embassy Suites in Bloomington, Minnesota. We had never stayed at an Embassy Suites and weren’t sure what to expect but knew that it was touted as a great place to stay for families.

When we pulled up to the hotel we were excited to get check in and start our mini vacation! I went in to check us in and was blown away by the gorgeous lobby area and atrium. It looked like such a fancy hotel and I wondered if it would truly be family friendly or if it would not be the place for our 3 small children. The staff was very friendly and made me feel at ease. I got all checked in and went out to get the rest of the family. We couldn’t find any luggage carts so we lugged our stuff up to our room in a few trips. When we arrived at the door to our room we were quite impressed with the welcoming entrance.

One very family friendly feature that the Embassy Suites has to offer is the 2 room suites setup. When you walk in your room you are greeted with a comfortable living room area complete with a table, TV, pull out sofa and wet bar area (fridge, sink, etc). I am a huge fan of the two room suite as it allows my kids to all sleep soundly in one room while my hubby and I can stay up and chat in the next room well after bedtime has come and gone. It also means cartoons for the kids and adult shows for us since there is a TV in each room!

The room was stocked with bottled water and coffee! There was also a free manager’s reception in the atrium when we arrived. We put on our swimming stuff and headed down to the reception on our way to the pool. It was great to have free snacks for the kids who were hungry after our long drive. They had free soft drinks and cocktails as well as chips, salsa, goldfish, animal crackers and lots of dips. It was surprisingly delicious and I loved the salsa!

After we finished our free snacks we headed to the pool area. The kids were so excited to go swimming! I forgot swim diapers and lucky for us they sold them in the gift shop. The pool wasn’t too crowded but there were plenty of bigger kids splashing around. The water temperature was quite chilly even for my kids but we went in anyway. Aiden is not a fan of water so he wasn’t having it. I went and sat with him while David swam with Danika and Carson. They loved swimming and we just wished it was a little warmer so we could stay in the water longer!

We then headed up to our room to get dry and order dinner. We decided to order room service so we could just relax and enjoy some downtime. The room service was pretty fast and the guy that brought it up was very friendly. Unfortunately as often happens with covers on food, our food was all so steamed from the trip up to the room that it was soggy. We had ordered many deep fried appetizers and they were all soggy and not crisp at all anymore. I was disappointed with that since it was supposed to be my dinner. My husband had a sandwich which he said was great!

After dinner we got ready for bed. Danika and Aiden were going to sleep together on the pull out couch and they were so excited! We wanted all the kids in the living room area so that we could close the door and let them sleep without having to disturb them or keep them awake as we stayed up later. The front desk brought up extra pillows and blankets which was great! They were so helpful and friendly. Danika and Aiden were thrilled with the sleeping arrangement.

There was plenty of room for Carson to setup his playpen in the living room area too. I loved how spacious the suite was. Often there isn’t enough room to comfortably set up a playpen when staying in a hotel but this definitely was not the case here, even with the pull out couch set up.

My hubby and I stayed in the bedroom area which was through a door from the living room. It also had a sink area which was perfect for getting ready at while someone was in the bathroom. You can also see in the mirror what our room looked like! It had a closed balcony overlooking the residential area nearby. It was spacious and had tons of storage if you were going to stay for longer.

The bathroom was even nice!

Everything at Embassy Suites was top notch and totally family friendly. We all slept great thanks to the two room suite! In the morning we went down and ate the free cooked to order breakfast. It knocked our socks off! It was better than most breakfasts that we would pay for! This is not your typical continental breakfast. My hubby had a cooked to order omelette with all the fixings and he said it was amazing. The pancakes were soooo good and the selection was just plain crazy. They had everything from fruit and yogurt to bacon and eggs. There was something for everyone. We ate better at the free cooked to order breakfast than we would have at any nearby restaurant.

I loved that the atrium area created a relaxing community environment. We chatted with our guests and relaxed in the chairs by the fountain. It was then time to check out and extend our vacation a little more by visiting the Minnesota Zoo for the day before heading back home.

We had an incredible time at Embassy Suites! They definitely offer up more for your stay than other hotels do. We were very impressed with the manager’s reception and free cooked to order breakfast. The two room suite is a must have for us when we stay overnight somewhere. It makes for a much more restful night’s sleep! It has been a few weeks since our visit and the kids are STILL talking about it!

If you are looking for a great, family friendly hotel where you will get MORE for your money then check out the Embassy Suites! We were impressed with our stay and will definitely seek them out on our next overnight trip away from home! Have you ever stayed at an Embassy Suites hotel? What features draw you to it?
