As a mom to three kids under 5 I am busy. Okay, busy is an understatement. I am always going non-stop! I have all of my lists written out for the week; where everyone has to be, what we are having for dinner, what area of the house needs cleaning that day, whose laundry needs to be done, who needs medicine, you name it, I have a list for it. I like to be organized and as the Mom to three kids and wife to one equally busy husband, I feel I am more sane if it’s all written down.
In our house we have 3 monthly prescriptions to fill plus a few of Aiden’s prescriptions that we fill on a irregular basis depending on how much he uses. Aiden has allergy induced asthma and a life threatening peanut allergy. He requires nightly prescription medication to keep his allergies in check and reduce his asthma attacks. He also uses a nebulizer and emergency prescription medication when his asthma flares up. He also has to carry a Epi-Pen with him wherever he goes in case of an accidental exposure to peanuts which could case an anaphylactic reaction which can be fatal.
My husband has high blood pressure and requires daily prescription medication to keep his blood pressure in check.
I also have a daily prescription medication to prevent ovarian cysts which I get if not on hormone therapy.
With all three of us requiring daily prescription medication and Aiden needing several different prescriptions to be managed, it’s easy to forget to refill prescriptions and the last thing I have time to do during my busy day is call and ask for refills. That is why I downloaded the Walgreens App! It’s packed full of features that help me not only manage our many different prescriptions and easily refill them, but it also makes life easier in other ways. See my latest trip to Walgreens and how I used the App to make my shopping trip a breeze by clicking HERE.
Download the Walgreens mobile app to your phone and start exploring the many features. I love the Pharmacy section in which I can easily manage my whole family’s prescription medications. Set pill reminders, schedule vaccinations and even transfer prescriptions with a scan of the bar code.
My absolute favorite feature of the whole app is the refill Rx by scan feature. Just scan the bar code on your prescription bottle and like magic it refills your prescription for you. No calling, no waiting in line, nothing! Just a quick, easy scan and you’re done! It’s like angels singing! After you’ve scanned your Rx then it comes up with the date and time your prescription will be ready. It’s just SO easy. I love it and won’t do it any other way now. Our previous pharmacy was a nightmare and nothing was easy. We always had to wait in line forever and despite being on an auto refill program, our prescriptions were never ready when they were supposed to be. They even shorted us on emergency asthma medication for Aiden. Of course I didn’t know we were short until he needed it. It was so frustrating and ultimately it was also a safety issue. Since switching to Walgreens several months ago we haven’t had a single problem. Our medications have always been ready on time, exactly when they say they will be and almost always sooner than they say they will be. We’ve never had to wait and the dosage and medication has always been correct. We won’t be switching to any other pharmacy. Walgreens has gone above and beyond to meet our expectations and now with the mobile app it’s even easier to get refills.
Within the app you can also check your balance rewards account. If you haven’t signed up for Walgreen’s balance rewards card yet then next time you are in store ask to sign up. It’s free, it’s quick and it puts money back in your pocket! What’s not to love? When you shop in store and with each prescription you refill, you will get rewards. Rewards = $$$! They also have sales that you can get only with your rewards card. That means better deals for you and even more money in your pocket. You just present your card (or give your phone number) each time you checkout.
Another feature of the app that I like is the shopping list. Throughout the week as I think of things we need or see things in the Walgreens flyer on sale, I just add them to my shopping list in the app. Then when I go to pickup our prescriptions I don’t have to try and remember what that thing I never wrote down was that I needed. It’s all in one place and easy to access and since I always have my phone with me I don’t have to worry about leaving my list at home (anyone else do that?!).
When I was in store the Kraft Mac ‘n Cheese was on sale for just.79 when you used your Balance Rewards card. That’s almost 50% off the regular price and no coupons required! You can use your balance rewards card to save a ton. You will also earn points on certain items that you buy and those points add up to cash. You can cash in your points to save money on your purchases. It’s a great program and it’s free.
Look for signs throughout the store to show you how many rewards points you’ll earn on certain items and how much cash they will get you!
I ended up finding several good deals. I saved on my Pull-Ups, Mac ‘n Cheese, Spices, Blistex and pop all because I have the free balance rewards card. It saved me a lot of money and I earned points on my prescriptions that I picked up too!
If you aren’t satisfied with your pharmacy or find it isn’t user friendly then I highly recommend switching to Walgreens. We switched several months ago and haven’t been disappointed with their service at all. They have far exceeded the performance of our previous pharmacy. If you are already a Walgreens pharmacy customer then download the mobile app and tell me what you think. I can’t imagine anyone not loving the scan by Rx refill portion of the app. It’s awesome! Don’t forget to get a balance rewards card while you are there and start saving money and keeping more of it in your wallet!

love walgreens! i used to use them as my pharmacy, but they no longer take my insurance
It must be so nice to have a pharmacy you can rely on. With the importance of your prescriptions it is a must!
