How To Organize Your Cloth Diaper Stash & The use of cloth wipes vs. disposable wipes!

My stash of cloth diapers seem to grow every day. Cloth diapers are addicting! With that comes the challenge of keeping them organized and storing them in an effective way. When they come out of the wash Danika always wants to help me organize them for stuffing. The majority of my diapers are pocket diapers so I put them all out and sort by brand and stuff them. Once they are stuffed they are ready to be put away.

I bought four storage baskets at Target for around $10 each. I put two on each shelf of Aiden’s changing table. The size of your stash will determine how many baskets you devote to your cloth diapers. I started out with just two baskets devoted to them and now all four are. I like the cleaner look the baskets give the changing table. They keep the diapers out of sight and organized while still being within reach.

Next to the changing table I keep two kitchen size garbage pails. The one on the left (and nearest to the changing table) is for disposable wipes and the one on the right is for my dirty cloth diapers. I use diaper pail liners for it and it works great. When I change his diaper I toss the wipes in the trash and the diaper in the other pail.

I had a huge stash of disposable baby wipes and now that I’m getting to the end of it I have started using cloth wipes. I wasn’t big on the idea of rinsing the poopy wipes in the toilet so I use both cloth and disposable wipes. I keep my stash of cloth wipes in one basket. I had a bunch of terry material baby bath towels that I got at garage sales for cheap. I cut them up into large squares and they work great for wipes. My whole stash probably cost my a few dollars by buying the towels at garage sales.

I keep both kinds of wipes on top of the changing table. On the left is a box of disposable wipes and on the right are my cloth wipes kept in a wipes box. I put them in and wet them down so they are ready to use. I also keep a spray bottle of soapy water on the table to clean Aiden’s bum. I use disposable wipes for poopy diaper changes and I use the cloth wipes for wet diaper changes. This is a great system which allows me to use cloth wipes the majority of the time since Aiden has more wet than poppy diapers and doesn’t require me to wash poopy wipes off in the toilet. It’s a great moneysaver while still being convenient.

The diapers fit great in two rows in each of these baskets. You can easily see which diaper each one is and pick the appropriate one. My husband hates all the different brands of cloth diapers we have and is a loyal Softbums fan so I have a third basket devoted to Softbums alone so he can change Aiden’s diaper without having to dig around for a Softbums. He loves them and so do I. He swears they are the best diaper out there and currently the only ones he’ll use!

I wanted to quickly show you these adorable diapers I got from Preston’s Pants. You may have noticed the flashing banner at the top of the posts from Preston’s Pants. I really like her diapers. She does a fabulous job on them and they are so adjustable. They have so many more snap options than other diapers I’ve tried which makes for a great fit. She has tons of adorable fabrics to choose from and you can completely customize your diapers down to the fleece and snap colors! She even does embroidery on the diapers! She also has great wet bags and I just love her ooga print day trip bag.

I love her use of printed fleece on the inside of the diapers too. It is not only super cute but also super soft! I haven’t had any problems with leaking and they fit like a charm. I definitely recommend buying her diapers. Plus she is having a great sale right now! She has both sized and one size diapers. You can buy from instock items or create your own custom diapers. She uses great materials and does quality work! Take a peak at her cloth diapers :) She is top rated on the Diaper Pin and you won’t be disappointed. Wait until you see the awesome training pants I had her make up for us! She will be selling them soon and I’ll be sharing them with you when the rest of the shipment arrives :) They rock! If you are potty training or your child still needs Pull Ups at nap or bedtime these are perfect.
So what tips do you have for organizing your cloth stash? How do you store your diapers?

  1. My stash is pretty small. I only have about 26 diapers (all the same kind- SmartiPants), so they are able to fit in the top drawer of the dresser that we are using as a changing table.
